Arts Education Week Passed by House

CALDWELL COUNTY, KY – In a region as artistically inclined as ours, news that the House of Representatives has passed the second week of September as “Arts in Education Week” comes as good news to local citizens and parents.

According to the Americans for the Arts organization, the concept was brought forth by California State Representative Jackie Speier. In a time when school budgets are being cut and local agencies have less economic incentive to put towards arts for the next generation, Western Kentucky as a whole seems very pleased with the concept.

“I love it,” said Muhlenberg Arts Advisory Council Member, Jay Durall. “I think that arts are so encompassing in our area that it can affect everyone. The more attention that we give to the arts, the more enriched everyone’s lives are.”

The Americans for the Arts council has stated that they will be very happy to help provide assistance to Representative Speier in this endeavor.
